What are these things?

Little snail on a rock at a tidepool.

Seawood just above the water at a tidepool.

Little barnacles in a tidepool.

Another pretty flower.

I think he thought I might have some food for him.

Another pretty flower with some bugs.

Starting walk to Otter Point to look at tidepools.

Windy at The Tarn!

Another pretty flower found by a small lake in the park called The Tarn.

Funky mushrooms I saw in the park today.

Close-up of the outside of the school.

Computers with internet access for email (which has not been used by a certain person!) and a small library to the left of oceanography and marine biology books.

Lecture room, which doubles as their "theater" for movie night - which is tonight. The movie playing is Monsters, Inc.

Cafeteria with cook in the background. She seemed like a nice person. A little frazzeled today, trying to figure out how much food needed for the family cookout for the end of camp tomorrow. For the 30 campers in this session, there are 120 people coming to the cookout!

Lab where they do hands on work! There are microscopes there too. I didn't go all the way in. You're supposed to have closed-toe shoes to go in.

Main hallway.

Rec room with snack tupperwares. Each kid has their own box for snacks they brought with them.

Boys dorm room!

Picture of the Acadia Institute of Oceanography. Had to stop by here today because Tristan claimed he had no clothes left! Not true!

This picture actually has a somewhat interesting story. It is another almost-sunset picture from the top of Cadillac Mountain. The previous pictures of the sunset from Cadillac Mountain were actually taken yesterday. This one way taken tonight. It had been raining since sometime during the night last night and all thru today. The temperatures were relatively cold. I had not been out too much today. Just a short drive around the island and out to fill gas in the van. I decided that I needed to get out and decided to head to my favorita Acadia spot, Cadillac Mountain! It was a little foggy in the park, but I didn't really think anything of it. Half-way up the mountain, I realized that it probably wasn't such a good idea. The fog was REALLY bad and I was heading up a mountain. It got kind of scary during the tippy top part of the drive, but I got there and took this picture. Heading back down was a piece of cake!

View from top of Cadillac Mountain in the evening. Cadillac Mountain is actually the highest point (approx. 1500 ft) on the Atlantic U.S. seaboard. It is also named after the man who founded Detroit and had the famous car named after him.

Picture of Witch Hole Pond from my bike ride on the carriage road. It was really hot! But fun!

A picture of my nice new bike on one of the carriage roads.

View of Thunder Hole. This is one of those places that you have to come to at the right time of day; this was at mid-high-tide. Of course, I wasn't there then! Still pretty though.

The Abbe Museum in Acadia National Park. It has a small collection of Stone Age implements used by Native Americans who inhabited the islands.

Wild Gardens of Acadia.

View of Frenchman's Bay from a pullout on the Acadia Park Loop Road.

This even teensier post office is right behind the cottage I'm staying in.

It even has a teensy kitchen.
This is a picture of the cottage on Salisbury Cove.
